Social Media Set Up

When launching a new website or blog, it is crucial to be on a variety of social media networks to engage new readers and connect with customers. You should create accounts on the following websites:Facebook: Create a Facebook page specific to your website or blog. Facebook is a great way to engage with customers. Viewers interested in your brand can “like” your page to receive updates from you. Post links to your newest blog posts to keep readers informed. Not only will viewers who have “liked” your page see updates, but if they “like” or comment on a post that you make, their Facebook friends will also see your updates in their Facebook news feed. This allows for an even greater audience to be reached. When creating your Facebook page, be sure to include a detailed description about and a link to your website or blog.

Twitter: Create a Twitter account specific to your website or blog. Twitter users have followers, and as you become more active and follow other accounts, you’ll find that you can easily gain more followers as well. Tweet a short tidbit and link to your new blog post to keep your audience informed. Keep in mind that tweets are limited to 140 characters, so your goal is to capture the interest of your reader and have them click on your link, driving traffic back to your blog or website. To gain new followers interested in the topic you are blogging about, make sure to include hashtags at the end of your tweets. For example, a website or blog specific to travel should include #travel at the end of the tweet. When creating your Twitter account and profile, include a detailed description about and a link to your website or blog.

Instagram: Instagram is another great way to obtain new blog readers and customers. Once you sign up for an Instagram account, you can post photos of products you sell or pictures of topics relevant to your website or blog. You should post a photo for every new blog post you write, driving traffic back to your blog. If you don’t already have photos in your blog posts, you can use a stock photo or graphic that you have designed. Instagram also uses hashtags, and it is crucial to include them when posting a picture to gain new followers interested in your topic. When creating your Instagram account and profile, include a detailed description about and a link to your website or blog.

Pinterest: Pinterest is another website dedicated to pictures. Users create online bulletin boards on specific topics and “pin” photos to them. Users can pin their own graphics and photos or repin an image they like from another user. Pinterest is also based on followers, so the more often you post, the more people will find and follow you. Create a board specific to your website or blog and pin a photo or graphic for every new blog post. It is important to create boards on related topics as well. For example, if you blog about travel, also create Pinterest boards dedicated to specific locations to have a greater presence and gain even more followers. When creating your Pinterest account and profile, include a detailed description about and a link to your website or blog.

After setting up your social media accounts, make sure to directly link to them from your website or blog. Include social media buttons linking to your accounts for readers to easily find and follow you on social media networks.
